一、 The core difference between explosion-proof motors and ordinary motors
1. Different protective structures (core)
Ordinary motor casings only provide dust and waterproof protection. Internal commutation and winding opening and closing of the motor can generate electrical sparks and arcs. Once there are flammable and explosive gases and dust around, it is highly likely to cause explosions and fires.
The explosion-proof motor adopts a sealed explosion-proof shell with high strength and strict processing accuracy of the explosion-proof joint surface. Even if there is a short circuit, ignition or even a slight explosion inside the motor, the explosion flame and high temperature can be limited inside the motor shell, and will not ignite external hazardous media; At the same time, the junction box and cable entry device are all treated with explosion-proof sealing to prevent flammable gases from entering the interior of the motor.
2. Different safety standards and testing requirements. Ordinary motors only need to meet conventional insulation, energy efficiency, and IP protection testing; Explosion proof motors must be certified by national explosion-proof organizations and obtain explosion-proof certificates. Mining motors also need to attach MA safety marks. Before leaving the factory, special explosion-proof tests such as explosion-proof surface clearance, pressure resistance, temperature rise, and shell impact must be conducted. The shell is not allowed to be polished, modified, or disassembled without authorization.
3. Different operating conditions limit that ordinary motors can only be used in conventional factories without flammable and explosive media; Explosion proof motors are specifically designed for use in explosive hazardous areas, with strict limitations on the maximum surface temperature and insulation heat resistance level to prevent the high temperature of the casing from igniting combustibles.
二、 Main application scenarios
1. Gas explosion-proof scenarios (Ex d explosion-proof type) include underground coal mines, oil extraction, natural gas transportation, refineries, chemical production workshops, pharmaceutical factories, gas boiler rooms, painting workshops, gas stations, sewage treatment biogas sections, etc.
2. Dust explosion prevention scenarios (Ex tD) include places with combustible dust such as flour processing plants, feed processing plants, wood processing workshops, aluminum and magnesium powder metallurgy workshops, plastic powder production, and grain storage and transportation.
3. Conventional ordinary motors are suitable for environments such as ordinary office buildings, household equipment, ordinary machine tools, central air conditioning, civil water supply and drainage, and conventional machinery factories that are not prone to flammable and explosive hazards.
